Now you can synchronize your Outlook application with your Gmail account. All you need is the Google Apps Sync plug-in. Once you synchronize your accounts, you will be able to view your contacts, notes and messages of both accounts by logging in to any of the accounts. Now, before you contact an Outlook tech support team for help, follow the steps mentioned below and fix the errors yourself.
Check Minimum system requirement
Make sure your system has the minimum requirements for the sync to work properly. The following are the minimum system requirements.
- Operating System – Your operating system has to be any one of the following, Windows 7, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or Windows XP with service pack 3.
- Outlook version – The syncing process succeeds only if you have Outlook 2003 with service pack 3 or any other newer versions. If you are using the 2010 version of Outlook, check if it is an MSI program rather than the click-to-run version.
Fix for Conflict Errors
The conflict error will appear if you have the same contacts in both the accounts. To fix this issue, navigate to the ‘Sync Issues’ folder. Select the option Contact. You will be asked to select the version that you wish to keep. Select it and the conflict error should be fixed.
Issues with Calendar folder
This issue arises because, after the syncing process, you may not find the contacts that are under the ‘calendar’ folder in your Gmail account. Only the contacts that are in the main ‘contacts’ folder may get synced. In order to view the other contacts, you need to go to the respective locations in Outlook and cannot view them in your Gmail account. To fix this error, click on the ‘Home’ tab and then click ‘New Contact’.
You can face similar issues in the sync process if the Google Apps Sync plug-in is not updated. Other issues occur if your Windows or Outlook versions are incompatible for the sync process. We have listed the minimum requirements at the beginning. Make sure Outlook and Windows satisfies the conditions.
The above-mentioned steps can help you fix most of the syncing errors in Outlook. You can also get further help from the Outlook tech support center. Also, browse through Google support pages. This is a great place to find out if other users have experienced similar troubles and Google’s answer to their queries.
